You need several Federal Licenses to operate our equipment. We must operate it for you during your rental.
Do you rent Lights & Sound?
Typically, No. Only on certain cases. We really only produce Laser Shows & Pyrotechnics.
Do you sell laser show equipment?
No.
Are you licensed?
Our laser projector equipment and company are both Federally licensed with the FDA – US Dept. of Health & Human Services, CDRH – Center for Devices of Radiological Health. We hold two licenses: Laser Operator / Laser Safety Officer and Laser Equipment Manufacturer. Although we do not sell lasers, we are licensed to do so. This manufacturer’s license is one of the most difficult FDA licenses to acquire in any laser industry.
All of our outdoor laser shows are registered with the FAA. Additionally, we are licensed by the New York State Department of Labor, one of the only states in America besides Texas and Arizona to have individual licensing. We also hold the New York City Fire Department “Place of Assembly Safety Personnel” F04 Certification, formerly known as a “Fire Guard.”
Laser Equipment and Services
What are your electrical power requirements?
Lasers require 1 amp to 3 amps each with 110-volt electricity.
Fog and haze machines require 16 amps each for 4 to 8 units which is the typical amount we bring to a show, depending on the size of the room, indoors or outdoors, with some using a gasoline or battery generator as a power source.
Can anybody use it?
No, you must be licensed. We have to operate the lasers.
What is the purchase price?
We do not sell. 99.99% of internet laser projectors are illegal in the United States and other countries. Amazon.com bans the sale of any laser projector. The US Customs stops these laser projectors from entering the USA, but some systems still enter. Those projectors are rejected because they are missing critical safety features required in the USA and other countries, such as emitting IR infar-red invisible laser radiation from reflection onto or into the eyes or skin of people, missing internal beam shutters, missing external remote safety buttons, missing key switches, missing external laser emission indicators, missing safety stickers, and many more missing components.
Some cheap illegal lasers, when turned off, may technically go into IR (infar-red) mode. With our light meters, it still reads the same burning power levels as a visible laser. All of our laser systems meet and exceed USA and international laser safety standards and regulations and come with multiple operators.
What types of events can you provide laser shows for?
We provide laser shows for a wide range of events, including concerts, corporate events, festivals, private parties, product launches, and more.
Can your lasers be synchronized with music?
Yes, our lasers can be synchronized with music, creating a dynamic and immersive experience that enhances the overall impact of the show.
How long does it take to set up a laser show?
Setup time depends on the complexity of the show, the number of lasers, and the venue. Typically, it can take anywhere from a few hours. If your event required 50 laser systems, it might take a few days. It also depends on your budget, if you’re in a rush, and if can you afford a large crew. How far away our truck is away to the stage, and if we need to depend on Union labor are other factors we take into consideration.
Do you offer custom laser show designs?
Yes, we offer custom laser show designs tailored to your specific event needs. Our team works closely with you to create unique and memorable experiences.
Are there any safety precautions we need to take during the laser show?
Yes, safety is our top priority. We provide detailed safety guidelines and ensure that all laser shows are conducted in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
In some case, such as the State of New York we bring with us, employees of the NY State Depart of Labor to assist in inspecting safety issues, and employees of the New York City Fire Department. We are one of about 2 or 3 companies in the USA to carry a NY Class B State Laser Operators License (Laser Safety Officer) we act as an intermediary between State Officials and visiting laser companies.
Besides providing a safe laser show, by avoiding contact with guests, our biggest initial concern is the smoke or haze machines triggering a Fire Alarm. In some Counties in New Jersey, such as Jersey City near the Geoge Washington Bridge in NYC, or Bergen County a Fire Marshal will deactivate the Alarms and stay guard for the duration of the event at no charge.
In other cases, the Fire Department may charge a $400 permit fee, and $80 an hour for a Fire Department employee to stay guard for the duration of the event. Otherwise, tampering with a Fire Alarm is against the law, includes large fines around $5,000, and is a safety hazard.
What is the minimum space requirement for a laser show?
The minimum space requirement varies depending on the type and size of the laser equipment. The minimum, the smallest projectors we have are about 6 inches x 6 inches, plus a laptop for a 3 watt RGB laser. They can be flown in the air and attached to objects such as trussing taking up zero floor space.
Can your lasers be used for indoor shows?
Yes, our lasers are versatile and can be used for both indoor and outdoor shows, provided the venue meets our safety and setup requirements. The minimum height our lasers can project is 9 feet from all floors, according to the law. So, if you have a standard size ceiling in your venue at 8 feet, then we probably can’t perform.
How do you ensure the quality of your laser shows?
We use state-of-the-art equipment and software, and our experienced team meticulously plans and tests each show to ensure the highest quality and performance.
Projection Capabilities
Can you project words, photographs, and video?
Yes, we can project words, photographs, and video. With video, we have to make it frame by frame, were not like a VCR or DVD, pop in the tape and hit play.
How far can the laser searchlight beam go?
Our more powerful laser systems can act like searchlights, reaching 10 to 20 miles depending on weather conditions. Our 50-watt laser can burn a hole into a soda can and even burn drywall at 10 feet away in one second. We provide lasers exceeding 100 watts and also have a 0.5 Milliradian laser, the world’s thinnest diverging laser, which maintains a tight beam that doesn’t spread like a flashlight. Though, the FAA & DoD prevent us from projecting this directly up in the sky at 90 degrees because it interferes with satellites, so we typically have to keep it below 10 degrees.
How big can the laser image be?
Our lasers can project images several hundred feet wide and high, and very far away, we have had success at 1500 feet. Ideal surfaces include skyscraper walls, mountainsides, or stadium walls and floors. It is also possible to project onto the surface of low-lying clouds under a 1,500-foot ceiling, though we cannot project weather conditions.
We want to install a laser billboard outside at our location for outdoor advertising, can you see the lasers in the daytime?
Maybe, sometimes. It helps if the surface wall is white and not in direct sunlight.
How far away can I keep the laser projector for a laser billboard? Can your laser project a large image at 1/4 mile away, or at 15 feet?
We can scan up to about 140 degrees. Our scan ratio is much better than any video projector. Our special lasers, which are different from those used at concerts, have a beam divergence of 0.5 milliradians, allowing them to project great distances onto very large walls at night. They can project onto skyscrapers, mountainsides, and even onto the surface of low-lying clouds. For laser graphics and logo projections, we suggest being no farther than about 1/4 mile to read logos and words clearly. A single laser can shoot 20 miles or even farther as a dot.
Technical Specifications
Are your lasers full color?
Yes, our lasers are capable of producing 16 trillion colors from 3 RGB lasers: Red, Green, and Blue. We can project photographs and video.
What kind of software do you use?

We can also be programmed in advance to various time codes like SMPTE, and different types of lighting boards by creating new universes in Art-Net.
What are the different types of laser shows?
There are two main types: Air shows and Graphics shows. Additionally, there are choreographed shows and un-choreographed shows. We typically do not provide lighting or sound systems, nor do we sub-rent or hire light and sound systems or companies
Do you offer support for live streaming events?
Yes, we offer support for live streaming events and can integrate our laser shows into your virtual or hybrid events seamlessly.
How dangerous are lasers?
Even the weakest laser at 50 milliwatts or less can light a cigar or tissue paper on fire. Our 50-watt laser can burn a hole into a soda can and even mark drywall at 10 feet away in one second. It took our company many years to acquire a license, and we did so in the 1990s before the FDA even had a website. It was a timely process involving a lot of paperwork, reading books, writing letters, and inspections from the FDA CDRH US Government in the 1990’s.
We are the most experienced laser company in the world, with licensed operators and licensed equipment. We have never had an injury, not even once. We have performed more laser shows than the entire laser show industry combined.
Louis Capet XXVI was formerly operating as P.A.W.N. LLC, specializing in laser shows and music. P.A.W.N. LLC became one of the longest-operating laser companies under the management of Matt Falcone after 1997, who incorporated them and became a partner and new owner of an older organization originally operating water-cooled lasers on Amiga computers, ADAT magnetic tape, and synthesizers. During the turn of the century, we produced up to 4 water-cooled laser shows a week with 3-phase electricity at 480 volts at many festivals, totaling nearly 2,750 laser shows before 2002, when technology changed from gas to crystals (diodes) for us. P.A.W.N. was one of the first laser companies in the USA using water-cooled gas lasers with computer software, among about ten laser companies in the USA at the time. Event Planning
What are the steps in planning an outdoor laser show?
We need the address of the venue to record elevation levels above sea level on special USGS topographical maps from the United States Geological Survey. We need to know which directions you want us to shoot. We then submit a permit to the FAA, which conducts an aeronautical study. The FAA then notifies the DoD, US Department of Defense. If the DoD approves the show, the FAA then issues a NOTAM (Notice to Airman) and a TFR (Temporary Flight Restrictions). We actually coordinate with the planes in the sky and maintain telephone contact with the nearest International Airport FAA tower overseeing your area during the show.
What are the programming steps in planning a laser show?
It depends on how complex and how much choreography or pre-planning you want.
How much space is needed?
Lasers less than 50 watts are about 1x1x1 ft. They sit on tripods with a footprint of about 4×4 or less on 3 legs that rise up to 13 feet. The units can also sit on the ground, fly or stand on truss, clamp onto a beam, or lay on a roof. The 50 and 100+ watt outdoor laser units weigh 100 pounds and are 3x1x1. They use a two-tripod rig footprint which is about 6x4x4 with 6 legs and can also sit on the ground, fly or stand on truss, clamp onto a beam, or lay on a roof.
